Americans Care About Hunger

This opinion poll of 500 Americans was conducted in November, 2004 by Leo J. Shapiro and Associates, LLC, a non-partisan social marketing research firm based in Chicago.

• 61.4% of all respondents consider hunger to be a major problem.
• 92.6% of all respondents are concerned (very, somewhat, or a little) about the issue of hunger in our country.
• 82.5% of all respondents agree that reducing hunger in the U.S. is a moral value.
• 78.7% of all respondents would support an elected official who wants to make reducing hunger a higher priority in Congress.
• 81.8% of all respondents rate the work of food banks, food pantries, and soup kitchens as excellent or good.
