America's Second Harvest Names Al Brislain Head of Affiliate Relations

Chicago, IL -- July 30, 2002 -- America's Second Harvest, the nation's largest hunger-relief organization serving more than 23 million hungry Americans each year, today named Al Brislain Vice President of Affiliate Relations. In this new position, Brislain will manage and oversee relations with the organization's affiliate membership of more than 200 food bank and food rescue programs.
Brislain will oversee the national affiliate service department to work with affiliated hunger-relief programs to improve their ability to provide advocacy, financial and food support within their service areas. Brislain also has taken on the responsibility to create new programs designed to improve the capacity of the 50,000 or more agencies providing direct service to millions of hungry Americans.

Brislain has been involved in food banking and food rescue for more than 25 years. For the past 11 years, Mr. Brislain has been the Executive Director of the Second Harvest Food Bank of the Inland Northwest in Spokane, Washington. Prior to his position in Spokane, Brislain held positions with the Food Bank of Contra Costa and coordinated a food bank development project in Northern California.
A graduate of University of California at Davis (BA English), Brislain also has a Ryan Teaching Credential from California State University, Sacramento. He is a 1993 graduate of Leadership Spokane. In 2001, the Second Harvest Food Bank of the Inland Northwest was named the National Food Bank of the Year by America's Second Harvest.
