Food Network "Favorite Recipes" Raises Money for America's Second Harvest

The Best Recipes from Today’s Hottest Chefs Benefit the Nation’s Food Bank Network

 

CHICAGO --- November 1, 2005 --- Proceeds for a new cook book to be released November 7, 2005,  »»   Food Network Favorites: Recipes from Our All-Star Chefs , will benefit America’s Second Harvest – The Nation’s Food Bank Network.

The nation’s largest domestic hungry relief organization, the America’s Second Harvest Network of more than 200 food banks distributed a combined total of 2 billion pounds of food and grocery products to 23 million Americans at risk of hunger last year. The Network also distributed more than 48 million pounds in emergency food and grocery products to people impacted by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

 

“We are thrilled and extremely grateful that Food Network has chosen America’s Second Harvest as a recipient of proceeds raised from the sale of Food Network Favorite Recipes from Our Favorite Chefs,” said Bob Forney, president and Chief Executive Officer of America’s Second Harvest. “Food Network has supported us in the past, and we are pleased that they are continuing to bring attention to both the issue of hunger in America and our efforts to help feed those in need.”

 

The book contains 120 recipes created by the Food Networks most popular chefs including Emeril Lagasee, Rachael Ray and Bobby Flay.

 

America’s Second Harvest—The Nation’s Food Bank Network is the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization with a Network of more than 200 regional Member food banks and food-rescue programs serving all 50 states and Puerto Rico. The Network secures and distributes nearly two billion pounds of donated food and grocery products annually. The America’s Second Harvest Network supports approximately 50,000 feeding agencies nationwide, including food pantries, soup kitchens, women’s shelters, and Kids Cafes.
