America's Second Harvest Names Maura Daly Vice President of Government Relations and Advocacy

CHICAGO --- February 9, 2007 --- America's Second Harvest — The Nation's Food Bank Network has promoted Maura Daly to Vice President of Government Relations and Advocacy from Director of Communication.  America’s Second Harvest is the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization.

Daly will supervise the Government Relations and Advocacy staff at the nonprofit organization’s office in Washington, D.C. and national office in Chicago. Her department is in charge of advocacy, legislative affairs, public policy and political strategy. She will coordinate resources on issues of domestic hunger, public policy and related topics for America’s Second Harvest public policy initiatives, publications, and public education activity.

Daly joined America’s Second Harvest as the Communication Manager in September 2004. She was promoted to Director of Communication in August of 2005. Her previous responsibilities included developing and managing communication strategies that position the America’s Second Harvest Network as the leading hunger-relief charity in the United States and the authority on domestic hunger-related issues.

She was responsible for overseeing the execution of public awareness campaigns with external partners; the production of publications and collateral materials; directing and managing media relations outreach; and the development of internal and external messaging.

"Maura has been a terrific asset to our organization," said Vicki Escarra, president and CEO of America's Second Harvest. “Her experience in D.C., combined with her enthusiasm and commitment to the nation’s hungry, make her the ideal person for this position.”

Prior to joining the America's Second Harvest Network in September 2004, Daly was a project manager at the American Public Transportation Association (APTA).
Daly previously served as an account executive for Jasculca/Terman and Associates, a Chicago-based public affairs firm, in the company’s Washington, DC office.

Daly holds a bachelors degree in communication from the University of Dayton and resides in Chicago with her husband.
