The Food Research and Action Center (FRAC) and America's Second Harvest's 2008 National Anti-Hunger Conference, March 2 - 4

The 2008 National Anti-Hunger Policy Conference brings together more than 500 representatives from national, state and local anti-hunger advocacy groups, emergency food providers, child care food program sponsors, government agencies, private sector and other groups. The conference is sponsored by The Food Research and Action Center (FRAC) and America's Second Harvest—The Nation’s Food Bank Network, in cooperation with the National CACFP Forum. 

Workshops will cover topics such as the latest developments on the Farm Bill; expanding participation in the Food Stamp Program; preparing for the upcoming Child Nutrition Reauthorization; leveraging resources for hunger relief; addressing food access in urban communities through corner stores and farmers’ markets; hunger among the elderly; and the expansion of the Summer Food Program.

Luncheon Plenary:        Opening remarks by: Jim Weill, President, Food Research and Action Center; Vicki Escarra, President, America’s Second Harvest; and Ed Mattson, President, National CACFP Forum
Comments by: Jared Bernstein, Economic Policy Institute, who will speak about the current economic squeeze experienced by low wage workers and low-income families who struggle with rising energy, housing and food costs.

Afternoon Plenary:       Hon. Dan Glickman, former USDA Secretary and ember of U.S. House of Representatives, speaks about the upcoming Child Nutrition Reauthorization
